Sweet Waters Sanctuary Update
In the January 2010 newsletter, we spoke of this being a year of awakenings. We surely are feeling an awakening of energy in Vessels of Peace, and it invites us to embrace new opportunities for connection and participation.
For seven years, the work of Vessels of Peace has occurred quietly, under-the-radar in many ways. This was necessary, in part, so that we could hold sacred space for the interweaving of a new peace consciousness with the re-emerging of the Feminine – and to then offer a strong, grounded container for experiencing these two interwoven energies as part of our spiritual unfolding and service.
With this formational work as our touchstone and anchor, we now are called to become more visible as the vibrant community of awakened women that we are … to reach out to one another and into our world in tangible, practical ways … to share the fruits of our journey and be present to others awakening to the call … to collaborate with other communities of women, as guided … and more. It is time to live and acknowledge Vessels of Peace as the path that it is - a way for women of any spiritual tradition or background to evolve and serve together for the benefit of our world!
Evolving Vessels of Peace Leadership
We have some news to share with you about the Core Circle. During our first call of 2010, we were guided to see that the form called the Core Circle has completed, and so it has been dissolved, opening space for a new form to emerge and evolve.
While waiting to be shown that new form, we each continue to anchor areas of responsibility to insure that the work is held and continues. For example, Lynda Terry and Laurel Boyd continue in their commitment to manifest Sweet Waters Sanctuary in the Pittsburgh, Pa., region later this year, while Christina Brewer continues to coordinate membership activities and our LightPages presence, Karen Latvala continues to edit the newsletter, and Wende Bartley will continue to create and guide Vessels of Peace sound healing practices. However, we are no longer meeting and working within the core circle container of guiding and decision-making that has been operative for the past three-plus years.
We sense that the new form is meant to emerge through the greater Vessels of Peace community … that some of you are meant to now come forward to help midwife that new form and join in guiding the work going forward. If you feel a resonance and have ideas or guidance to share around this, please email us at vesselsofpeace@vesselsofpeace.com

New Courses on the Feminine This Spring and Fall
“The essence of feminine energy is to hold the space within which a relationship, a family, an idea, a community, can grow and transform.”
~ from The 11 Intentions: Invoking the Sacred Feminine as a Pathway to Inner Peace
Many of you have taken our popular 12-week Choosing Peace email course, and many of you have requested a similar course to help you (re) discover and deepen your capacity to work with the energy of the Divine Feminine. In response, we have developed two courses to support your journey. Together with the Choosing Peace e-course, these courses will create a safe and sacred space within which to interweave the unfolding of the new peace consciousness and re-emergence of the Feminine within you, with the global interweaving of these two energies that is occurring on the planet.
The first course, “Feminine Spiritual Consciousness: Reclaiming Our Sacred Feminine Essence,” begins Tuesday, March 9th and continues, weekly, through May 25th. The course will be co-facilitated by longtime Vessels of Peace members Karen Latvala and Lynda Terry, and will meet via teleconference call, with email support as needed. All calls will be recorded and archived, so that if you can’t take part in a live call, you can listen online to the lesson at your convenience.
You will find a more detailed description of this course, along with sign-up instructions, on the Course & Offerings page.
The second course, “Feminine Spiritual Consciousness: Deepening Our Commitment to Serve,” will be offered in Fall 2010. Details to follow later in the spring.
New This Summer: Living the Vessels of Peace Path
How each woman lives the Vessels of Peace Path is a unique expression of her gifts, being and purpose. It’s inspiring to learn about the many ways Vessels of Peace touches a woman’s life and service, and it draws us closer as a community, to know about one another’s journeys. So this summer, we are birthing a new way to do that, via Living the Vessels of Peace Path, a free series of conversations with Vessels of Peace members.
You will have the chance to listen and take part in these conversations live or listen to the recorded versions at your convenience. We have started compiling our list of women we feel would be great candidates to talk with, and we encourage you to suggest your own candidates (including yourself!) for us to consider. Further details, including the list of women interviewees and how to take part, will be provided in a future newsletter. Email vesselsofpeace@vesselsofpeace.com to suggest a candidate, with her name and why you feel she would be great for the series, along with contact information.
Sweet Waters Sanctuary Update
Since the gathering of our Visioning Circle in Crestone, Colo., in 2005, some of the Vessels of Peace members have known we would one day live together as a community. Last May, while visiting Soul of the Mother in Canada, we knew the time had come to found a physical home for Vessels of Peace, and thus, Sweet Waters Sanctuary was conceived.
We wrote of our search for the general location in the October 2009 newsletter and of how we were led to the Pittsburgh, Pa. area. Since that time, we have made wonderful new connections in the region, welcomed more members to Vessels of Peace, and many women have come forth to express their own heartfelt longing for a place where they can experience divine sanctuary with kindred spirits.
As with any birth, there is much to be done in preparation. It is one thing to long for a child, and quite another to realize you really are pregnant! There are financial needs, legal questions, finding a kindred-spirit real estate agent, site selection … and many things we haven't even thought of yet.
We invite you, as a member of the Vessels of Peace community, to see yourself not only as the midwife, but as the woman giving birth - for that is what we are all doing together - we are birthing a new way of living and serving.
At the moment, the greatest need is financial and sacred support. We are open to all ways of receiving Vessels of Peace’s new home and to ideas any of you have - all gifts are precious.
